Mecca Bingo has been very busy lately in all sorts of areas, and one of them is raising money for charity! It isn’t just about games and bingo fun at Mecca – it’s also about helping out with things that count. The wonderful Marie Curie cancer charity was the lucky recipient recently when this fabulous local bingo hall raised thousands for charity.

Both the staff and the bingo players at the Mecca club in Huddersfield raised the money a variety of different ways. They had an abseiling challenge, an It’s A Knockout tournament as well as a sponsored body waxing event – now there’s an activity that took some courage, but all the people at Mecca Bingo were more than happy to do it for Marie Curie.

The grand total that Mecca Bingo helped to make was £280,000 which was gratefully received by the amazing Marie Curie cancer charity. The charity provides top nursing care for cancer sufferers, and that money will go in the kitty to pay for a massive 14,000 hours of nursing care.

There were 103 Mecca Bingo clubs all around the country who took part, and Marie Curie is grateful to each and every one. All donations help with the wonderful job that the Marie Curie nurses do, and it’s really lovely to see establishments like MeccaBingo helping out in such a big way. The bingo players had fun, the charity got the funds and the cancer patients get the care – a superb story all round!
